The sky is wide, the ground is cold, And silence seals my fate. All around me faces gather, Eyes filled with fleeting care. They look at me with pity soft, But leave me standing there. No hand reaches out to help, No voice asks what I feel. Because I am only a wet cat, My pain is not quite real. I do not cry, I do not plead, I simply learn to stand. They look, they whisper, then walk away— My pain hangs still in the air. I do not scream, I do not curse, I simply endure the cold.
