Writing Where Your Footsteps Fall Poem I need no palace built of stone, No golden room, no throne of my own. I need no bed of silk or lace, No luxury, no decorated place. Wherever your footsteps gently fall, That little earth becomes my all. A dusty road, a field, a street, Becomes a heaven when our paths meet. I do not measure life by gold, Nor by the treasures people hold. For what is wealth, and what is fame, If love is absent from the name? Give me the ground beneath your feet, And even hardship feels complete. Where you have walked, I wish to stay, Where you have been, I find my way. Your footsteps turn the ordinary bright, They give the darkness a softer light. A simple road, once cold and bare, Becomes a sacred place when you are there. I would rather walk beside your soul Than own a kingdom, rich and whole. For palaces may rise and fall, But love can make a home of all. So let the world pursue its gold, Its empty dreams, its treasures cold. I ask for neither wealth ...
