Every word I write walks back toward you, as if the heart remembers the last yard of its belonging better than I do. --- ARABIC POEM (القصيدة بالعربية) ماذا أكتبُ يا حبيبة روحي؟ سؤالكِ يهبط برفقٍ كأنه يبحث عن حضنٍ ليستقرّ فيه. أنتِ أمينتي— سكينةٌ صامتةٌ تحت أنفاسي القلقة. كلُّ حرفٍ أخطّه يمضي عائدًا إليكِ، كأنَّ القلبَ يعرف ساحة انتمائه الأخيرة أكثر ممّا أعرفه أنا. --- II.
