A quiet tremor moves within, As if the world remembers you. Love comes again— Not to my heart, but to my mind, Like an old echo of warmth, Gentle, familiar, and unkind. But my heart stays closed, Not from hate, but learned pain. I sealed that door long ago, To protect my peace, to remain sane.
