Crowds of colors, faces of laughter, Still the heart drifts—alone thereafter. Everything mingles, yet none remain mine, In the glow of lamps, I seek a sign. Music and murmurs, joy’s sweet call, But silence waits when curtains fall. We are alone, though the fair’s so wide, Lonely wanderers on the inside.
