Writing What Is My Weakness, If You Could Never Be Mine? Poem What is your life, O restless soul, Why do you wander through my dreams? You came like rain upon a desert, Then disappeared beyond my reach. You were never truly mine, Yet my heart called you its own; I built a home from silent wishes, And lived inside it all alone. Tell me, what was my weakness? Was I too gentle, too sincere? Did I love you more than I loved myself, Or did I simply hold you too near? I searched the mirror every morning, Looking for the fault within; Perhaps my silence lost your heart, Perhaps my hope became my sin. I asked the stars about your absence, I questioned every passing night; Why did you enter into my life If you were never meant to stay in sight? Perhaps love is not possession, Perhaps hearts are not things we own; Perhaps some people cross our pathways Only to teach us we are not alone. You became a question without an answer, A song without its final line; I kept asking why you left...
