Far beyond the village, beyond the town,

I walked where ancient forests frowned.

Silent trees embraced the night,

While fading stars surrendered light.

Many men and women came,

To where they walked, no one would show.

An ancient inn stood still and grey,

As though forgotten by the day.

Inside, the travelers laughed and spoke,

While shadows danced with drifting smoke.

Yet one strange thing disturbed my soul—

The keeper never showed his role.

His chair was empty by the fire,

As though he had vanished long before.

Then silence swallowed every sound,

A chilling darkness gathered round.

One by one they disappeared,

Like dreams that morning never spared.

Only empty chairs remained,

And questions echoed in my brain.

The forest whispered, cold and thin:

"Life itself is but an inn."
