میں چاہ کر بھی تمہیں بچا نہ سکا،

میرے ہاتھوں سے بڑی تھی تقدیر۔

خدا نے تمہیں صاحبِ نصیب بنایا،

اقتدار نہیں،

قربانی کا تاج پہنا کر۔

میں ہندو ہوں—تو کیا ہوا؟

جب ظلم خون بہاتا ہے،

انسانیت نام نہیں پوچھتی۔

عقیدے نے میرے آنسو تقسیم نہیں کیے،

سچ نے میرا مذہب نہیں پوچھا۔
