Najmul and Eli — Two Hearts, One Friendship
Part 21: The Day They Learned That Trust Must Be Rebuilt
1. The Morning After the Presentation
The morning sun shone gently through the windows of Najmul's classroom.
Students were talking about the online inter-school event that had taken place the previous day. Their presentation, “Friendship Has No Borders: Trust, Respect, and the Courage to Understand,” had received warm appreciation from teachers and students.
Najmul should have felt completely happy.
He was proud of the work he and Eli had completed together. He was grateful that they had talked honestly about their misunderstanding instead of allowing it to destroy their friendship.
Yet something inside him still felt a little different.
He trusted Eli, but the hurt from the previous week had not disappeared entirely.
He remembered the screenshot that had made him wonder whether he still mattered to his best friend. He also remembered how quickly his thoughts had filled with questions before he had learned the full story.
He opened their friendship journal and read a sentence they had written after their difficult conversation:
“We cannot promise never to hurt each other, but we can promise to listen, communicate honestly, and take responsibility when we make mistakes.”
Najmul closed the journal thoughtfully.
“Perhaps trust does not return all at once,” he whispered. “Perhaps it returns little by little.”
His phone vibrated.
It was a message from Eli.
Eli: “Good morning, my friend! I'm happy about yesterday's presentation. Are you free for a call this evening?”
Najmul smiled and replied.
Najmul: “Yes, I should be free after my studies. Let's talk at seven.”
Eli: “Perfect. I'll call you then.”
Najmul put his phone away and returned to his schoolwork.
For the first time in several days, he felt hopeful without needing every uncertainty to disappear.
2. A Small Disappointment
That evening, Najmul finished his studies a little before seven.
He arranged his books, took the friendship journal from his shelf, and waited for Eli's call.
Seven o'clock passed.
Then seven fifteen.
There was still no call.
Najmul looked at his phone.
His old worries began to return.
Has something happened again? Did Eli forget? Is he too busy with his new friends?
For a moment, he wanted to close the journal and stop waiting.
But then he remembered Part 10, when an unanswered message had led him to imagine a story that was not entirely true.
He took a slow breath.
“This time, I will ask before I assume,” he told himself.
He sent Eli a message.
Najmul: “Hey, we planned to talk at seven. I waited, and I'm a little disappointed that I haven't heard from you. Is everything okay?”
He did not send an angry message. He did not accuse Eli of forgetting him.
He simply explained how he felt and asked what had happened.
A few minutes later, Eli replied.
Eli: “I'm sorry, Najmul. My father needed help with something at home, and I lost track of time. I should have sent you a message when I realised I might be late. Are you still available? If not, we can choose another time.”
Najmul read the message twice.
Eli had made a mistake, but he had acknowledged it without blaming Najmul for feeling disappointed.
Najmul replied:
Najmul: “I'm free for another fifteen minutes. We can talk now, but next time, please let me know if our plan changes.”
Eli: “You're right. I'll try to communicate sooner. Thank you for telling me honestly instead of keeping it inside.”
They started their call.
It was not a dramatic conversation. Nobody shouted, and nobody threatened to end the friendship.
They simply talked about what had happened.
And sometimes, Najmul was beginning to understand, that was how trust grew.
3. An Honest Conversation
During the call, Eli looked thoughtful.
“Najmul, can I tell you something?” he asked.
“Of course.”
“After our misunderstanding, I have been worried that every small mistake might make you think I'm going to leave you behind.”
Najmul considered his words.
“I don't want that either,” he said. “But I also don't want to pretend I never feel hurt. When we make a plan and you don't tell me it has changed, I feel disappointed. That doesn't mean I believe our friendship is over.”
Eli nodded.
“I understand. I think I was treating an apology as if it could fix everything immediately.”
“What do you mean?” Najmul asked.
“I apologised after the screenshot misunderstanding. I thought that once we explained everything, we could simply return to normal. But rebuilding trust means showing through our actions that we learned something.”
Najmul smiled faintly.
“Yes. And I have something to learn, too. Sometimes I become worried before I know what is happening. I need to ask questions instead of letting my imagination answer them.”
“Then we both have work to do,” Eli said.
“Not because our friendship is broken beyond repair,” Najmul replied, “but because it matters enough for us to care for it.”
For a moment, neither boy spoke.
Then Eli laughed softly.
“You know what? That sounds like something we should add to our journal.”
Najmul laughed, too.
“Only if you promise not to forget the journal this time!”
“I promise to try,” Eli answered playfully. “And if I forget, I'll admit it.”
Their laughter did not erase the earlier hurt.
But it made the conversation feel lighter.
They were learning that honesty could include sadness, disappointment, humour, and hope—all in the same friendship.
4. Daniel's Question
The following day at Eli's school, Daniel noticed that Eli was checking his schedule before agreeing to help with another class project.
“Why are you checking your timetable so carefully?” Daniel asked.
Eli explained that he and Najmul were trying to make more realistic plans and communicate clearly when something changed.
Daniel looked puzzled.
“But didn't you two already apologise to each other? I thought everything was fine after that.”
Eli considered the question before answering.
“Apologising was important,” he said. “But it didn't mean we suddenly became perfect at communicating.”
“So you still don't trust each other completely?”
“It's not that simple,” Eli replied. “I trust Najmul in many ways. But when a misunderstanding hurts someone, it can take time for the hurt to settle. We have to keep showing that we are willing to listen, explain things, and take responsibility.”
Daniel thought about it.
“I suppose saying sorry is easier than changing a habit.”
“Sometimes it is,” Eli said. “But an apology should be the beginning of improvement, not a way to avoid it.”
Daniel nodded.
“I once apologised to my younger brother for ignoring him when he wanted to talk. Then I did the same thing the next day. He told me he couldn't understand why I kept saying sorry if nothing changed.”
“What did you do?”
“I started telling him when I was busy and asking if we could talk later. I couldn't always give him my attention immediately, but I could stop leaving him wondering.”
Eli smiled.
“That sounds like a good lesson.”
Daniel laughed.
“Maybe I should write it on your poster.”
“Only if you give credit to the person who taught you!”
They laughed together.
Eli realised that the lessons from Friendship Has No Borders were no longer just ideas for presentations. They were becoming part of ordinary life.
5. Riya's Difficult Decision
Meanwhile, at Najmul's school, Riya faced a different problem.
Her science group had to submit an assignment. One member had promised to bring the completed charts, but he had not arrived with them.
Some students immediately began complaining.
“He never keeps his promises,” one said.
“He probably doesn't care about the group,” another added.
Riya looked uncomfortable.
Najmul noticed and asked her quietly, “What do you think we should do?”
“I don't know,” she admitted. “We need the charts, and we can't finish the assignment without them. But we don't know why he hasn't brought them.”
“Exactly,” Najmul said. “We can explain the problem without deciding what kind of person he is.”
They contacted their classmate and learned that a family responsibility had kept him away. He apologised and explained that he should have informed the group earlier.
The group still had a problem: the charts were unfinished, and the deadline was close.
Najmul suggested dividing the remaining work among the available members while asking the teacher whether a short extension was possible.
They did not pretend the missed commitment had caused no difficulty. They also did not humiliate their classmate.
Instead, they dealt with the practical problem and discussed how to communicate better next time.
Later, Riya said to Najmul, “I understand something now. We can care about why someone made a mistake and still be honest about the consequences.”
Najmul nodded.
“Yes. Understanding someone doesn't mean pretending their actions have no effect. And holding someone responsible doesn't mean treating them without kindness.”
Riya wrote the thought in her notebook.
It was another lesson from their growing friendship project—one that had travelled far beyond the two boys who had first created it.
6. The Message That Made a Difference
That evening, Eli received a message from Najmul.
Najmul: “Today our science group had a problem because someone missed a commitment. We tried to understand what happened, but we also had to finish the work. It reminded me of us.”
Eli replied:
Eli: “How so?”
Najmul: “We shouldn't use friendship as an excuse to ignore mistakes. But we shouldn't use mistakes as an excuse to stop caring, either.”
Eli read the message carefully.
He thought about the time he had discussed the presentation arrangements with Daniel before fully explaining the changed rules to Najmul.
He had not intended to make Najmul feel unimportant. But his good intentions had not prevented the hurt.
He typed:
Eli: “You're right. I have been thinking about that, too. I want to become better at explaining things before they turn into misunderstandings. I know I can't fix everything with one apology, but I can keep trying to do better.”
Najmul replied:
Najmul: “And I will try to ask questions before assuming the worst. We both deserve honesty, patience, and respect.”
Eli smiled.
They had not made a promise that they would never miss a call, make a mistake, or misunderstand each other again.
They had made a more realistic commitment: when problems arose, they would try to face them honestly.
7. The Meaning of Consistency
On Saturday, Eli sat with Daniel and Adam in the school library, preparing materials for another student activity.
Daniel asked him to review a slide.
“I'll finish this section first,” Eli said. “Then I'll look at yours.”
He completed his section and reviewed Daniel's slide as promised.
It was a small thing, hardly worth celebrating.
Yet Eli noticed something important: keeping a commitment did not always require a grand gesture. Sometimes it meant doing what you said you would do, when you reasonably could.
At the same time, he understood that life would not always allow him to follow every plan exactly.
If something unexpected happened, he could explain it, apologise when appropriate, and arrange a realistic alternative.
Consistency did not mean being available every minute.
It meant making a genuine effort to be dependable, communicating honestly, and not treating another person's time or feelings as unimportant.
Across the distance, Najmul was learning the same lesson.
He had promised his family that he would help with a household task after finishing his revision. He completed his studies and then helped as promised.
Later, he told Eli about it.
Eli replied, “Look at us! We are learning that responsibility isn't only about friendship.”
Najmul laughed.
“Of course. If we want people to trust us, we must try to be responsible in all parts of life.”
“And when we cannot do something?” Eli asked.
“We should say so honestly instead of making promises we cannot keep.”
“Agreed.”
8. A Conversation in the Classroom
The following week, Najmul's teacher began a discussion about trust.
“What makes you trust another person?” she asked the class.
Students offered different answers.
“Because they tell the truth.”
“Because they help when we need them.”
“Because they keep our secrets.”
“Because they don't laugh at us when we make mistakes.”
The teacher wrote the answers on the board.
“Those are important,” she said. “But what happens when someone you trust makes a mistake?”
The classroom became quieter.
Farhan raised his hand.
“I think we should look at what happened, whether they take responsibility, and whether they try to change.”
“Good,” said the teacher. “Does one mistake always mean we should stop trusting someone?”
“No,” Najmul answered. “But we shouldn't pretend the mistake didn't happen, either.”
The teacher nodded.
“And what if the same harmful behaviour continues?”
Riya replied, “Then we may need stronger boundaries and help from a trusted adult, especially if someone is being bullied, threatened, or repeatedly mistreated.”
“Exactly,” the teacher said. “Trust is not blind acceptance. It should be informed by a person's actions over time. Forgiveness does not require you to ignore danger or allow repeated harm.”
Najmul thought about Arman's experience from Part 12, when private information had been shared without permission.
Rohan had apologised, but Arman had still needed time and boundaries. That had been reasonable.
He raised his hand.
“Perhaps rebuilding trust means giving someone a fair chance to show change, while also protecting ourselves if the behaviour continues.”
“That is very well expressed,” the teacher said.
Najmul wrote the sentence in his notebook.
He wanted to share it with Eli.
9. The Journal's New Page
That evening, Najmul opened the friendship journal.
He wrote:
Dear Eli,
I used to think that once two friends explained a misunderstanding and apologised, everything should immediately return to normal.
Now I understand that feelings sometimes need time to settle. An apology matters, but it is not a magic switch. Trust grows when our actions match our words.
I want to remember that I should ask questions when I am confused, explain my feelings without attacking you, and accept that you have responsibilities beyond our friendship.
I also want to remember that I have responsibilities of my own. I cannot expect you to be available every moment, and you should not have to pretend that everything is fine just to protect my feelings.
We can care about each other and still make mistakes. We can forgive and still need time. We can trust and still have boundaries.
I hope we continue learning these things together.
Your friend,
Najmul
He took a photograph of the page and sent it to Eli.
A little later, Eli replied with his own reflection:
Dear Najmul,
I have learned that good intentions are not enough if I fail to communicate with someone who depends on my word.
I may not always be able to keep every plan exactly as we made it, but I can tell you when something changes. I can listen when you explain that I have hurt you. I can apologise without demanding that you feel better immediately.
I also want to remember that your life matters just as much as mine. Your studies, your family, your worries, and your hopes deserve respect.
We are not required to prove our friendship through constant calls or perfect behaviour. We can prove our care by being honest, making realistic commitments, and trying to repair the harm we cause.
I do not expect us to become perfect friends. I hope we become more understanding ones.
Your friend,
Eli
Najmul read the message twice.
Then he placed the phone beside the journal.
For the first time, the thought of rebuilding trust did not feel like a heavy task.
It felt like a path they could walk together—one honest conversation, one kept commitment, and one thoughtful action at a time.
10. A Promise Tested in a Different Way
A few days later, Eli told Najmul that he had an important school assignment due on Friday.
They had also planned a longer call that evening.
“I want to talk,” Eli admitted, “but I may need to finish my assignment first. Could we speak for ten minutes tonight and have a longer conversation on Sunday?”
Najmul felt a little disappointed. He had been looking forward to their longer conversation.
But he did not hide his feelings, and he did not ask Eli to neglect his work.
“Ten minutes tonight is fine,” Najmul replied. “And Sunday sounds good. If your plans change, just let me know.”
“Thank you for understanding. I'll call at eight.”
That evening, Eli finished his work on time and called at eight.
They spoke for ten minutes, shared their news, and said goodbye.
On Sunday, Eli called again for their longer conversation.
Najmul noticed that he felt more relaxed.
It was not because Eli had suddenly become incapable of making mistakes. It was because Eli had communicated clearly and followed through on the plan they had agreed upon.
Najmul said, “I appreciated that you told me your schedule honestly.”
Eli smiled. “And I appreciated that you told me what you wanted without making me feel guilty for having work to do.”
“That's what we promised, isn't it?”
“Yes,” Eli said. “To respect each other's responsibilities while still making room for our friendship.”
Neither boy knew what future challenges they might face.
But they were discovering that trust was not rebuilt by saying the right words once.
It was rebuilt when those words became part of everyday behaviour.
11. When Trust Is Not Yet Ready
One afternoon, Daniel asked Eli whether Najmul had completely forgiven him for the presentation misunderstanding.
Eli thought carefully.
“I think we have both moved forward,” he said. “But I cannot speak for every feeling Najmul has. He may still remember how the misunderstanding hurt him.”
“Does that mean your friendship is still in trouble?” Daniel asked.
“Not necessarily. People can heal at different speeds. I don't want to pressure him to say everything is fine just because I have apologised.”
Daniel nodded.
“So the important thing is to keep treating him well, not keep asking him whether he trusts you yet?”
“Exactly. If I keep demanding proof that he has forgiven me, I might turn my apology into another burden for him.”
Daniel smiled thoughtfully.
“That makes sense.”
Eli added, “And if someone continues hurting us, we don't have to keep giving unlimited chances. Trust should be rebuilt through real change, not just repeated promises.”
The conversation reminded Eli that friendship needed both compassion and judgment.
A person could be forgiven without immediately receiving the same level of trust as before.
A relationship could improve gradually.
And sometimes, if harm continued, distance and boundaries might be necessary.
Those truths did not make friendship less meaningful.
They made it more honest.
12. Two Friends, One Growing Understanding
That evening, Najmul sat beneath the old tree.
The branches moved gently in the breeze, and the familiar place reminded him of the boy he had first met when a football rolled across the ground.
He thought about everything that had changed since then.
They had faced rumours, distance, jealousy, difficult choices, misunderstandings, mistakes, apologies, and new responsibilities.
Their friendship was not exactly the same as it had been in the beginning.
They were older in their thinking, more careful with their words, and more aware that caring for someone required more than warm feelings.
His phone rang.
Eli's face appeared on the screen.
“Where are you?” Eli asked.
“Under our old tree.”
“I guessed it!”
Najmul laughed. “Of course you did.”
They talked about school, family, their plans, and the small difficulties of the week.
Before ending the call, Eli said, “Najmul, I want you to know that I am still learning how to be a better friend.”
Najmul answered, “So am I. We don't have to know everything already.”
“But we have to keep trying.”
“Yes,” Najmul said. “And when we make mistakes, we should be honest about them.”
Eli smiled.
“Then let's keep that promise.”
They ended the call.
Najmul looked up at the tree and felt peaceful.
He understood that the strongest friendships were not necessarily those that never experienced hurt.
They were the friendships in which people were willing to face the truth, listen to one another, respect boundaries, and show through their actions that the relationship mattered.
13. The Lesson They Wrote Together
That night, both boys added a final entry to their shared journal.
Their New Promise:
We will not expect trust to return instantly after an apology. We will show through our actions that we have learned from our mistakes. We will communicate honestly when plans change, respect one another's time and responsibilities, and listen when either of us feels hurt.
We will not demand instant forgiveness or use friendship to excuse repeated harm. We will allow room for feelings, boundaries, and gradual healing. We will remember that one mistake does not tell the whole story, but repeated actions deserve careful attention.
We will keep asking questions instead of assuming, speaking honestly instead of hiding our feelings, and making realistic commitments instead of impossible promises.
Above all, we will remember that trust is not something we can demand from another person. It is something we help build by treating one another with honesty, patience, responsibility, and respect.
Below the promise, Najmul wrote:
“An apology may open the door, but changed behaviour helps rebuild the path.”
Eli added:
“Trust does not grow in a single moment. It grows through the small, honest choices we make when nobody is watching.”
Neither boy believed their friendship would now be free from every future misunderstanding.
They knew there would be busy days, unexpected changes, difficult conversations, and moments when they might disappoint one another.
But they had learned something valuable.
They did not need a perfect friendship.
They needed a friendship in which both people were willing to learn, communicate, respect boundaries, and take responsibility for their actions.
Their story had begun beneath an old tree with a simple act of returning a football.
Now, thousands of small choices later, that friendship had become something deeper—not because they had never made mistakes, but because they were learning how to face those mistakes together without losing their honesty or self-respect.
And somewhere between two cities, two schools, and two different daily lives, their shared promise continued to grow.
“Trust is not built by perfect people. It is built by people who are willing to be honest, take responsibility, and keep learning how to treat one another well.”
To Be Continued in Part 22 — The Day They Learned That Being Honest Can Require Courage.

Najmul aur Eli — Do Dil, Ek Dosti
Hissa 21: Woh Din Jab Unhon Ne Seekha Ke Bharosa Dobara Banana Parta Hai
1. Presentation Ke Baad Ki Subah
Talib-e-ilm pichhle din hone wale online inter-school program ke baare mein baat kar rahe thay. Unki presentation, “Dosti Ki Koi Sarhad Nahi: Bharosa, Izzat Aur Samajhne Ka Hausla,” ko teachers aur students ne pasand kiya tha.
Najmul ko poori tarah khush hona chahiye tha.
Usay apne aur Eli ke mil kar kiye gaye kaam par fakhr tha. Woh is baat par bhi khush tha ke dono ne apni ghalatfehmi ko dosti khatam karne ka sabab nahi banne diya, balki khul kar baat karke use suljhane ki koshish ki.
Phir bhi uske dil mein thori si bechaini baqi thi.
Usay Eli par bharosa tha, lekin pichhle haftay ki takleef abhi poori tarah khatam nahi hui thi.
Usay woh screenshot yaad aaya jisay dekh kar usne sochna shuru kar diya tha ke kya woh ab bhi apne sab se achhe dost ke liye ahmiyat rakhta hai. Usay yeh bhi yaad aaya ke poori baat jaanne se pehle hi uske zehan mein kitne sawal aur andeshe paida ho gaye thay.
Usne apni dosti ki diary kholi aur woh jumla parha jo unhon ne apni mushkil guftagu ke baad likha tha:
“Hum yeh wada nahi kar sakte ke hum kabhi ek doosre ko takleef nahi denge. Lekin hum yeh wada kar sakte hain ke ek doosre ki baat sunenge, imandari se rabta rakhenge aur ghalti hone par uski zimmedari qabool karenge.”
Najmul ne sochte hue diary band kar di.
“Shayad bharosa ek hi pal mein poori tarah wapas nahi aata,” usne aahista se kaha. “Shayad woh dheere dheere wapas aata hai.”
Usi waqt uska phone vibrate hua.
Eli ka paigham tha.
Eli: “Subah bakhair, mere dost! Kal ki presentation se main bohat khush hoon. Kya aaj shaam tumhare paas phone par baat karne ka waqt hai?”
Najmul muskuraya aur jawab diya.
Najmul: “Haan, parhai khatam hone ke baad waqt mil jana chahiye. Saat baje baat karte hain.”
Eli: “Bohat achha! Main us waqt phone karunga.”
Najmul ne phone rakh diya aur apni parhai mein lag gaya.
Kayi dinon ke baad pehli baar usne umeed mehsoos ki, aur iske liye zaroori nahi tha ke uske dil ki har pareshani khatam ho jaye.
2. Ek Chhoti Si Mayoosi
Us shaam Najmul ne saat bajne se kuch pehle apni parhai mukammal kar li.
Usne kitabein tarteeb se rakhin, dosti ki diary nikali aur Eli ke phone ka intezar karne laga.
Saat baj gaye.
Phir saat baj kar pandrah minute ho gaye.
Lekin phone nahi aaya.
Najmul ne apne mobile ki taraf dekha.
Uski purani pareshaniyan dobara ubharne lagin.
Kya phir kuch hua hai? Kya Eli bhool gaya? Kya woh apne naye doston mein itna masroof hai ke mujhe yaad bhi nahi karta?
Ek lamhe ke liye uska dil chaha ke diary band kar de aur intezar chhor de.
Lekin use Part 10 yaad aaya, jab ek paigham ka jawab na milne par usne apne zehan mein aisi kahani bana li thi jo poori tarah sach nahi thi.
Usne aahista se saans li.
“Is baar main andaza lagane se pehle poochhunga,” usne khud se kaha.
Usne Eli ko paigham bheja.
Najmul: “Dost, humne saat baje baat karne ka tay kiya tha. Main intezar karta raha aur tumhari khabar na milne se mujhe thori mayoosi hui. Sab theek hai na?”
Usne ghusse mein koi paigham nahi bheja. Usne Eli par use bhool jaane ka ilzam bhi nahi lagaya.
Usne sirf apne jazbaat bataye aur poochha ke kya hua tha.
Kuch minute baad Eli ka jawab aaya.
Eli: “Mujhe maaf karna, Najmul. Ghar par Abbu ko ek kaam mein madad chahiye thi aur mujhe pata hi nahi chala ke waqt kab guzar gaya. Mujhe tumhein pehle bata dena chahiye tha ke mujhe der ho sakti hai. Kya tum abhi baat kar sakte ho? Agar nahi, to hum koi aur waqt tay kar sakte hain.”
Najmul ne paigham do baar parha.
Eli se ghalti hui thi, lekin usne Najmul ki mayoosi ka ilzam us par daalne ke bajaye apni ghalti tasleem ki.
Najmul ne jawab diya:
Najmul: “Mere paas abhi pandrah minute hain. Hum abhi baat kar sakte hain, lekin agli baar agar hamara plan badle to mujhe zaroor bata dena.”
Eli: “Tum theek keh rahe ho. Main koshish karunga ke pehle hi bata doon. Apni baat imandari se kehne ka shukriya, use dil mein rakhne ke bajaye.”
Dono ne phone par baat shuru kar di.
Yeh koi filmi ya ghair mamooli guftagu nahi thi.
Aur Najmul dheere dheere samajhne laga ke kabhi kabhi bharosa isi tarah dobara banta hai.
3. Ek Imandar Guftagu
Call ke dauran Eli kuch soch mein dooba hua lag raha tha.
“Najmul, kya main tumse ek baat keh sakta hoon?” usne poochha.
“Bilkul.”
“Hamari ghalatfehmi ke baad se mujhe fikr rehti hai ke meri har chhoti ghalti se shayad tum sochoge ke main tumhein peechhe chhor raha hoon.”
Najmul ne uski baat par ghour kiya.
“Main bhi aisa nahi chahta,” usne kaha. “Lekin main yeh bhi nahi chahta ke jab mujhe takleef ho to main use chhupa loon. Jab hum koi plan banate hain aur tum mujhe bataye baghair use badal dete ho, to mujhe mayoosi hoti hai. Lekin iska matlab yeh nahi ke main samajhta hoon hamari dosti khatam ho gayi hai.”
Eli ne sar hilaya.
“Main samajh gaya. Shayad main maafi maangne ko aisa samajh raha tha jaise us se sab kuch foran theek ho jayega.”
“Tumhara kya matlab hai?” Najmul ne poochha.
“Screenshot wali ghalatfehmi ke baad maine tumse maafi maangi thi. Mujhe laga tha ke jab hum sab kuch samjha denge, to hum dobara pehle jaise ho jayenge. Lekin bharosa dobara banane ka matlab hai apne amal se dikhana ke humne waqai kuch seekha hai.”
Najmul halki si muskurahat ke saath bola, “Bilkul. Aur mujhe bhi kuch seekhna hai. Kabhi kabhi poori baat jaane se pehle hi main pareshan ho jata hoon. Mujhe apne khayalat ko sach maan lene ke bajaye sawal karna seekhna hoga.”
“To phir hum dono ko abhi kuch kaam karna hai,” Eli ne kaha.
“Is liye nahi ke hamari dosti bilkul khatam ho chuki hai, balki is liye ke yeh dosti hamare liye itni aham hai ke hum iski dekhbhal karna chahte hain,” Najmul ne jawab diya.
Kuch lamhon tak dono khamosh rahe.
Phir Eli halkay se hans diya.
“Jante ho? Humein yeh baat apni diary mein likhni chahiye.”
Najmul bhi hans para.
“Zaroor! Lekin is baar diary na bhoolne ka wada karna!”
Eli ne mazaaq mein kaha, “Main koshish karne ka wada karta hoon. Aur agar bhool gaya to apni ghalti bhi maan loonga.”
Unki hansi ne pehle ka dukh poori tarah khatam nahi kiya.
Lekin isne unki guftagu ko halka aur aasan bana diya.
Woh seekh rahe thay ke ek dosti mein udaasi, mayoosi, hansi aur umeed—sab ke liye jagah ho sakti hai, agar log imandari se baat karein.
4. Daniel Ka Sawal
Eli ne samjhaya ke woh aur Najmul ab haqeeqat ke mutabiq plan banana aur kisi tabdeeli ke baare mein saaf saaf batana seekh rahe hain.
Daniel hairan hua.
“Lekin tum dono ne ek doosre se maafi maang li thi na? Mujhe laga tha ke uske baad sab theek ho gaya hoga.”
Eli ne jawab dene se pehle kuch socha.
“Maafi maangna zaroori tha, lekin iska matlab yeh nahi ke hum achanak baat cheet karne mein bilkul behtareen ho gaye hain.”
“To kya tum dono ab bhi ek doosre par poora bharosa nahi karte?”
“Baat itni aasan nahi hai,” Eli ne kaha. “Main Najmul par bohat si baaton mein bharosa karta hoon. Lekin jab koi ghalatfehmi kisi ko takleef deti hai, to us takleef ko door hone mein waqt lag sakta hai. Humein apne amal se baar baar dikhana hota hai ke hum ek doosre ki baat sunne, apni baat samjhane aur apni ghalti ki zimmedari lene ke liye tayyar hain.”
Daniel ne socha.
“Mujhe lagta hai sirf sorry kehna apni aadat badalne se aasan hai.”
“Kabhi kabhi aisa hi hota hai,” Eli ne kaha. “Lekin maafi maangna tabdeeli se bachne ka tareeqa nahi hona chahiye. Use behtari ki shuruaat banna chahiye.”
Daniel ne sar hilaya.
“Maine ek baar apne chhote bhai ko nazarandaz karne ke liye maafi maangi thi. Woh mujhse baat karna chahta tha, lekin main masroof tha. Agle din maine phir wahi kiya. Phir usne kaha ke agar main kuch badalta hi nahi, to baar baar maafi maangne ka kya faida?”
“Phir tumne kya kiya?” Eli ne poochha.
“Maine masroof hone par use batana shuru kiya aur poochha ke kya hum baad mein baat kar sakte hain. Main har baar foran use waqt nahi de sakta tha, lekin use pareshani mein chhorna band kar sakta tha.”
Eli muskuraya.
“Yeh bohat achhi seekh hai.”
Daniel hans kar bola, “Shayad mujhe yeh baat tumhare poster par likh deni chahiye!”
“Zaroor, lekin jisne tumhein yeh sikhaya uska naam bhi likhna!”
Dono hans pare.
Eli samajh gaya ke “Friendship Has No Borders” ki seekhein ab sirf presentation ke khayalat nahi rahi thin. Woh rozmarrah zindagi ka hissa ban rahi thin.
5. Riya Ka Mushkil Faisla
Kuch students foran shikayat karne lage.
“Woh kabhi apna wada poora nahi karta,” ek ne kaha.
“Shayad use group ke kaam ki koi parwah nahi,” doosre ne kaha.
Riya pareshan nazar aayi.
“Mujhe nahi pata,” usne kaha. “Humein charts chahiye aur unke baghair assignment mukammal karna mushkil hai. Lekin humein yeh nahi pata ke woh unhein kyun nahi la saka.”
“Bilkul,” Najmul ne kaha. “Hum maslay ke baare mein imandari se baat kar sakte hain, lekin poori baat jaane baghair uske kirdar ke baare mein faisla nahi karna chahiye.”
Usne maafi maangi aur tasleem kiya ke use pehle hi bata dena chahiye tha.
Riya ne yeh baat apni notebook mein likh li.
Yeh unke barhte hue dosti ke project se milne wali ek aur seekh thi—aisi seekh jo un do ladkon ki zindagi se bohat aage tak pahunch rahi thi.
6. Woh Paigham Jisne Farq Paida Kiya
Us shaam Eli ko Najmul ka paigham mila.
Najmul: “Aaj hamare science group mein masla hua. Ek member apni zimmedari waqt par poori nahi kar saka. Humne samajhne ki koshish ki ke kya hua, lekin humein kaam bhi mukammal karna tha. Is waqye ne mujhe hamari dosti yaad dila di.”
Eli ne jawab diya:
Eli: “Kaise?”
Use yaad aaya ke presentation ke qawaid mein tabdeeli ke baare mein Najmul ko poori tarah samjhane se pehle hi usne Daniel se baat kar li thi.
Uska irada Najmul ko ghair aham mehsoos karana nahi tha. Lekin uske achhe irade bhi Najmul ki takleef ko rok nahi sake thay.
Usne likha:
Eli: “Tum theek keh rahe ho. Main bhi is baare mein soch raha hoon. Main chahta hoon ke ghalatfehmi paida hone se pehle hi baat ko saaf saaf samjhana seekhun. Mujhe pata hai ke ek maafi se sab kuch theek nahi ho sakta, lekin main behtar karne ki koshish jaari rakh sakta hoon.”
Najmul ne jawab diya:
Najmul: “Aur main sab se bura sochne se pehle sawal karne ki koshish karunga. Hum dono imandari, sabr aur izzat ke haqdar hain.”
Eli muskuraya.
Unhon ne yeh wada nahi kiya tha ke woh kabhi call miss nahi karenge, koi ghalti nahi karenge ya ek doosre ko ghalat nahi samjhenge.
Unhon ne ek zyada haqeeqi faisla kiya tha: jab maslay saamne aayenge, woh unka imandari se saamna karne ki koshish karenge.
7. Pabandi Aur Mustaqil Behtari Ka Matlab
Hafta ke aakhir mein Eli school ki library mein Daniel aur Adam ke saath ek doosri student activity ki tayari kar raha tha.
Daniel ne use ek slide dekhne ko kaha.
Eli ne kaha, “Pehle main apna yeh hissa mukammal kar loon. Phir tumhari slide dekhunga.”
Usne apna hissa poora kiya aur phir Daniel ki slide bhi dekh li, jaisa usne wada kiya tha.
Yeh ek chhoti si baat thi, koi aisa bada kaam nahi jis ka jashn manaya jaye.
Phir bhi Eli ne ek aham baat samjhi: kisi waday ko nibhane ke liye hamesha koi bada kaam karna zaroori nahi hota. Kabhi kabhi iska matlab hota hai ke jab mumkin ho, apni kahi hui baat ke mutabiq kaam kiya jaye.
Saath hi woh samajhta tha ke zindagi mein har plan ko bilkul usi tarah poora karna hamesha mumkin nahi hota.
Agar achanak koi masla aa jaye, to woh use samjha sakta hai, zaroorat par maafi maang sakta hai aur koi doosra munasib waqt tay kar sakta hai.
Mustaqil zimmedari ka matlab har minute dastiyab rehna nahi hai.
Iska matlab hai bharosemand banne ki sachchi koshish karna, imandari se rabta rakhna aur kisi doosre ke waqt ya jazbaat ko ghair aham na samajhna.
Doosre shehar mein Najmul bhi yahi seekh raha tha.
Usne apne ghar walon se wada kiya tha ke revision khatam karne ke baad ghar ke ek kaam mein madad karega. Usne parhai mukammal ki aur phir apna wada poora kiya.
Baad mein usne yeh baat Eli ko batayi.
Eli ne jawab diya, “Dekho! Hum seekh rahe hain ke zimmedari sirf dosti tak mehdood nahi hoti!”
Najmul hans para.
“Bilkul. Agar hum chahte hain ke log hum par bharosa karein, to humein zindagi ke har pehlu mein zimmedar banne ki koshish karni chahiye.”
“Aur jab hum koi kaam nahi kar sakte?” Eli ne poochha.
“To humein aise waday karne ke bajaye sach batana chahiye jinhein hum poora nahi kar sakte.”
“Bilkul theek!”
8. Class Mein Ek Guftagu
“Kyunkay woh sach bolta hai.”
“Kyunkay zaroorat par madad karta hai.”
“Kyunkay woh hamari raaz ki baatein doosron ko nahi batata.”
“Kyunkay ghalti karne par hamara mazaaq nahi urata.”
Teacher ne jawab board par likh diye.
“Yeh sab aham baatein hain,” unhon ne kaha. “Lekin agar koi aisa shakhs jis par tum bharosa karte ho, ghalti kar de, to phir kya hoga?”
Class kuch khamosh ho gayi.
Farhan ne haath uthaya.
“Mujhe lagta hai humein dekhna chahiye ke kya hua, kya woh apni ghalti ki zimmedari leta hai aur kya badalne ki koshish karta hai.”
“Achha,” teacher ne kaha. “Kya ek ghalti ka hamesha matlab yeh hota hai ke humein us shakhs par bharosa karna band kar dena chahiye?”
Najmul ne jawab diya, “Nahi. Lekin humein yeh dikhawa bhi nahi karna chahiye ke ghalti hui hi nahi.”
Teacher ne sar hilaya.
“Aur agar wahi nuqsan pohanchane wala rawayya baar baar jaari rahe?”
Riya ne kaha, “Phir humein apni hudood mazboot karni par sakti hain aur kisi bharosemand bare ki madad leni par sakti hai. Khaas taur par jab koi tang kare, dhamki de ya baar baar takleef pohanchaye.”
“Bilkul durust,” teacher ne kaha. “Bharose ka matlab aankhein band karke sab kuch qabool karna nahi hai. Bharosa kisi ke waqt ke saath dikhaye gaye rawayye ko dekh kar banta hai. Maaf karne ka matlab khatre ko nazarandaz karna ya baar baar nuqsan bardasht karna nahi hai.”
Najmul ko Part 12 ka Arman yaad aaya, jab uski zaati maloomat uski ijazat ke baghair doosron ko bata di gayi thi.
Rohan ne maafi maangi thi, lekin Arman ko waqt aur apni hudood ki zaroorat thi. Yeh bilkul munasib tha.
Najmul ne haath uthaya.
“Shayad bharosa dobara banane ka matlab hai kisi ko badlav dikhane ka munasib mauqa dena, lekin saath hi agar nuqsan pohanchane wala rawayya jaari rahe to apni hifazat karna.”
“Tumne bohat achhi baat kahi,” teacher ne jawab diya.
Najmul ne yeh jumla apni notebook mein likh liya.
Woh is seekh ko Eli ke saath baantna chahta tha.
9. Diary Ka Naya Safha
Us shaam Najmul ne dosti ki diary kholi.
Usne likha:
Pyare Eli,
Pehle main samajhta tha ke jab do dost kisi ghalatfehmi par baat karke maafi maang lete hain, to sab kuch foran pehle jaisa ho jana chahiye.
Ab main samajh raha hoon ke jazbaati takleef ko door hone mein waqt lag sakta hai. Maafi aham hai, lekin yeh koi jaadui button nahi. Jab hamare amal hamari baaton se milte hain, tab bharosa dheere dheere banta hai.
Main yaad rakhna chahta hoon ke jab mujhe kisi baat par uljhan ho, to mujhe sawal karne chahiye. Mujhe tum par ilzam lagaye baghair apne jazbaat batane chahiye aur yeh qabool karna chahiye ke hamari dosti ke ilawa bhi tumhari bohat si zimmedariyan hain.
Mujhe yeh bhi yaad rakhna hai ke meri apni zimmedariyan hain. Main yeh umeed nahi kar sakta ke tum har waqt mere liye dastiyab raho. Aur tumhein mere jazbaat ki hifazat ke liye yeh dikhawa bhi nahi karna chahiye ke sab kuch theek hai.
Hum ek doosre ki parwah kar sakte hain aur phir bhi ghaltiyan kar sakte hain. Hum maaf kar sakte hain aur phir bhi waqt ki zaroorat mehsoos kar sakte hain. Hum bharosa kar sakte hain aur saath hi apni hudood bhi rakh sakte hain.
Mujhe umeed hai ke hum yeh baatein mil kar seekhte rahenge.
Tumhara dost,
Najmul
Usne safhe ki tasveer li aur Eli ko bhej di.
Kuch der baad Eli ne apna paigham bheja:
Pyare Najmul,
Maine seekha hai ke agar mere irade achhe hon, lekin main us shakhs se theek tarah baat na karun jo meri baat par bharosa karta hai, to sirf achhe irade kaafi nahi hote.
Main hamesha har plan ko bilkul usi tarah poora nahi kar sakunga, lekin agar kuch badalta hai to tumhein bata sakta hoon. Jab tum kahoge ke meri kisi baat se tumhein takleef hui hai, to main tumhari baat sun sakta hoon. Main maafi maang sakta hoon, bina yeh maange ke tum foran behtar mehsoos karne lago.
Main yeh bhi yaad rakhna chahta hoon ke tumhari zindagi meri zindagi jitni hi aham hai. Tumhari parhai, tumhara ghar, tumhari pareshaniyan aur tumhare khwab—sab izzat ke haqdar hain.
Humein apni dosti sabit karne ke liye har waqt phone karna ya bilkul sahi rawayya rakhna zaroori nahi. Hum imandar reh kar, haqeeqi waday karke aur apni ghaltiyon se hone wale nuqsan ko durust karne ki koshish karke apni parwah dikha sakte hain.
Main yeh umeed nahi karta ke hum behtareen dost ban jayenge. Main chahta hoon ke hum ek doosre ko behtar samajhne wale dost ban jayen.
Tumhara dost,
Eli
Najmul ne paigham do baar parha.
Phir usne phone diary ke paas rakh diya.
Pehli baar use bharosa dobara banane ka khayal koi bhaari kaam nahi laga.
Use laga ke yeh ek aisa raasta hai jis par woh saath chal sakte hain—ek imandar guftagu, ek poora kiya gaya wada aur ek soch samajh kar kiya gaya amal.
10. Ek Wada Jo Mukhtalif Tareeqe Se Aazmaya Gaya
Kuch din baad Eli ne Najmul ko bataya ke uska ek aham school assignment jumay tak jama karna hai.
Usi shaam dono ne lambi call karne ka plan banaya tha.
Eli ne kaha, “Main tumse baat karna chahta hoon, lekin shayad pehle mujhe assignment mukammal karna hoga. Kya hum aaj raat das minute baat kar sakte hain aur itwaar ko lambi guftagu kar sakte hain?”
Najmul ko thori mayoosi hui. Woh lambi baat karne ka intezar kar raha tha.
Lekin usne apne jazbaat nahi chhupaye aur na hi Eli se uski parhai ko nazarandaz karne ko kaha.
Najmul ne jawab diya, “Aaj raat das minute theek hain. Itwaar bhi achha hai. Agar tumhara plan badal jaye to mujhe bata dena.”
“Samajhne ka shukriya. Main aath baje phone karunga.”
Us shaam Eli ne apna kaam waqt par mukammal kiya aur aath baje phone kiya.
Iski wajah yeh nahi thi ke Eli ab kabhi ghalti nahi kar sakta tha. Balki Eli ne apni baat saaf saaf batayi thi aur dono ne mil kar jo plan banaya tha, use poora kiya tha.
Najmul ne kaha, “Mujhe achha laga ke tumne apne waqt ke baare mein imandari se bataya.”
Eli muskuraya. “Aur mujhe achha laga ke tumne apni khwahish batayi, lekin mujhe kaam hone ki wajah se mujrim mehsoos nahi karaya.”
“Humne yahi wada kiya tha na?”
“Haan,” Eli ne kaha. “Ek doosre ki zimmedariyon ka ehtram karna aur phir bhi apni dosti ke liye waqt nikalna.”
Dono mein se koi nahi jaanta tha ke mustaqbil mein unhein kin mushkilaat ka saamna karna padega.
Lekin woh seekh rahe thay ke bharosa sirf ek baar achhi baatein keh dene se dobara nahi banta.
Jab woh baatein rozmarrah ke rawayye ka hissa ban jaati hain, tabhi bharosa mazboot hota hai.
11. Jab Bharosa Abhi Poora Wapas Na Aaya Ho
“Mujhe lagta hai hum dono aage barh rahe hain. Lekin main Najmul ke har jazbaat ke baare mein nahi keh sakta. Use yaad ho sakta hai ke us ghalatfehmi se use kitni takleef hui thi.”
“Kya iska matlab hai ke tumhari dosti ab bhi mushkil mein hai?” Daniel ne poochha.
“Zaroori nahi. Har insaan ko sambhalne aur theek hone mein alag waqt lagta hai. Main us par yeh dabao nahi dalna chahta ke woh kahe sab kuch theek hai, sirf is liye ke maine maafi maang li hai.”
Daniel ne sar hilaya.
“To zaroori baat yeh hai ke tum uske saath achha rawayya rakhte raho, na ke baar baar poochhte raho ke kya woh ab tum par bharosa karta hai?”
“Bilkul. Agar main baar baar maafi ka saboot maangta rahoon, to meri maafi hi uske liye ek naya bojh ban sakti hai.”
Daniel ne sochte hue muskuraya.
“Yeh baat samajh aati hai.”
Eli ne mazeed kaha, “Aur agar koi humein baar baar takleef deta rahe, to hum use be-hisaab mauqe dene ke paband nahi hain. Bharosa asal tabdeeli se dobara banna chahiye, sirf baar baar kiye gaye wadon se nahi.”
Is guftagu ne Eli ko yaad dilaya ke dosti mein rehamdili aur samajh boojh dono zaroori hain.
Kisi ko maaf kiya ja sakta hai, lekin zaroori nahi ke us par foran pehle jaisa bharosa bhi kiya ja sake.
Koi rishta dheere dheere behtar ho sakta hai.
Aur agar nuqsan pohanchane wala rawayya jaari rahe, to faasla rakhna aur apni hudood tay karna zaroori ho sakta hai.
Yeh sachchaiyan dosti ko kam aham nahi banatin.
Balki use aur zyada imandar banati hain.
12. Do Dost, Ek Barhti Hui Samajh
Us shaam Najmul purane darakht ke neeche baitha tha.
Halki hawa mein shaakhein hil rahi thin. Yeh jaani pehchani jagah use us pehle din ki yaad dila rahi thi jab ek football uski taraf aayi thi aur uski Eli se mulaqat hui thi.
Usne socha ke tab se kitna kuch badal chuka tha.
Unhon ne afwahon, doori, hasad, mushkil faislon, ghalatfehmiyon, ghaltiyon, maafiyon aur nai zimmedariyon ka saamna kiya tha.
Unki dosti ab bilkul waisi nahi thi jaisi shuru mein thi.
Woh soch mein zyada pukhta, apni baaton mein zyada mohtaat aur is baat ko samajhne lage thay ke kisi ki parwah karne ke liye sirf achhe jazbaat kaafi nahi hote.
Uska phone baja.
Screen par Eli ka chehra nazar aaya.
“Tum kahan ho?” Eli ne poochha.
“Hamare purane darakht ke neeche.”
“Mujhe andaza tha!”
Najmul hans para. “Bilkul tumhein andaza hoga!”
“Lekin koshish jaari rakhni hogi.”
“Haan,” Najmul ne kaha. “Aur jab humse ghalti ho, to humein use imandari se tasleem karna chahiye.”
Eli muskuraya.
“To phir aao, is waday ko nibhate rahen.”
13. Woh Seekh Jo Unhon Ne Mil Kar Likhi
Us raat dono ne apni mushtarka diary mein ek naya paigham likha.
Unka Naya Wada:
Hum yeh umeed nahi karenge ke maafi maangne ke foran baad bharosa poori tarah wapas aa jayega. Hum apne amal se dikhayenge ke humne apni ghaltiyon se seekha hai. Jab plans badlenge to imandari se batayenge, ek doosre ke waqt aur zimmedariyon ka ehtram karenge aur jab hum mein se kisi ko takleef hogi to uski baat sunenge.
Hum foran maaf kiye jaane ka mutalba nahi karenge aur dosti ko baar baar nuqsan pohanchane wale rawayye ka bahana nahi banayenge. Hum jazbaat, zaati hudood aur dheere dheere sambhalne ke liye jagah denge. Hum yaad rakhenge ke ek ghalti poori kahani nahi hoti, lekin baar baar dohraye jaane wale amal par tawajjoh dena zaroori hai.
Hum andaza lagane ke bajaye sawal karenge, jazbaat chhupane ke bajaye imandari se batayenge aur namumkin waday karne ke bajaye haqeeqi zimmedariyan qabool karenge.
“Maafi ka lafz darwaza khol sakta hai, lekin badla hua rawayya bharose tak pahunchne ka raasta dobara banata hai.”
Eli ne izafa kiya:
“Bharosa ek hi lamhe mein nahi banta. Woh un chhote chhote imandar faislon se barhta hai jo hum us waqt bhi karte hain jab koi humein dekh nahi raha hota.”
Dono mein se kisi ne yeh nahi socha ke ab unki dosti mein kabhi koi ghalatfehmi nahi hogi.
Woh jaante thay ke masroof din aayenge, plans badlenge, mushkil guftagu hogi aur kabhi kabhi woh ek doosre ko mayoos bhi karenge.
Lekin unhon ne ek qeemti baat seekh li thi.
Unhein ek be-aib dosti ki zaroorat nahi thi.
Unhein aisi dosti chahiye thi jismein dono seekhne, rabta rakhne, hudood ka ehtram karne aur apne amal ki zimmedari lene ke liye tayyar hon.
Unki kahani purane darakht ke neeche football wapas karne ke ek saadah se amal se shuru hui thi.
Ab hazaron chhote faislon ke baad unki dosti aur gehri ho gayi thi—iske liye nahi ke unhon ne kabhi ghalti nahi ki, balki is liye ke woh apni imandari aur khuddaari ko barqarar rakhte hue un ghaltiyon ka saamna karna seekh rahe thay.
Do shehron, do schoolon aur do mukhtalif rozmarrah zindagiyon ke darmiyan unka mushtarka wada barhta ja raha tha.
“Bharosa be-aib logon se nahi banta. Bharosa un logon se banta hai jo imandar rehne, apni zimmedari qabool karne aur ek doosre ke saath achha sulook karna seekhte rehne ke liye tayyar hon.”
Jaari Rahega...
Hissa 22 — Woh Din Jab Unhon Ne Seekha Ke Sach Bolne Ke Liye Bhi Hausla Chahiye.
دوست، is qist ka sab se khoobsurat sabaq yeh hai: bharosa wapas aane mein waqt lag sakta hai. Sachchi maafi, musalsal achha rawayya aur ek doosre ke jazbaat ka ehtram dheere dheere rishte ko mazboot banate hain. ❤️
