In the silence of the midnight sky,

جب رات کی خاموشی دل کو چھو جائے،

I asked the heavens softly, “Why?”

اور روح تنہائی میں خود کو کھو جائے۔

“O God, why did You come tonight,

او خدا، کیوں آئے تم اس سنسان رات میں،

When I was sleeping beside my own,

جب میں سویا تھا اپنوں کے ساتھ میں۔

The moon stood pale, the stars were still,

چاند بھی خاموش تھا، تارے بھی بےحال،

As if the universe had paused its will,

جیسے وقت نے روک لیا ہو اپنا حال۔

The rain arrived like hidden tears,

بارش آئی جیسے دل کے راز،

دھو ڈالے اس نے خاموش انداز۔

I asked the wind about Your way,

میں نے ہوا سے پوچھا تیرا راستہ،

کیوں بھٹکتی ہے روح ہر راستہ؟

شاید اندھیرا انجام نہیں،

او خدا، اگر آج ساتھ ہو تم،

تو سکھا دو سکون کا کوئی ستم۔

مجھے تنہا نہ چھوڑنا درد کے بیچ،
