I knew the road I should have taken, Yet left the truthful path behind. I saw a road that seemed so bright, And called its brightness guiding light; But perhaps it was merely noise, A crowded world dressed up as right. So many people walked that way, And therefore I believed it true; I heard the footsteps of the crowd, But lost the voice that spoke within me. I had knowledge, but lacked wisdom; I had eyes, but failed to see. I knew the roads before my footsteps, Yet could not choose the road for me.
