In the light of night, I study still,

Yet once again, I turn to read,

The ghost becomes a friend in need.

রাত্রির ফিসফিসানি

রাত্রির আলোয় পড়ি আমি,

মায়ের ডাক আসে থেমে থেমে নামি।

ঘুমের কোলে ছায়ারা নামে,

নিস্তব্ধতা ঝাড়ি স্বপ্নের কামে।

শুনি আমি শব্দ ঝরে,

ভূতের মতো ঘুরে ঘুরে।

কাঁপে গলা, নিঃশ্বাস থমকে,

ভয় ভেসে যায় অচেনা ঢেউকে।

তবু আবার বই খুলে বসি,

ভূতটাও সাথি হয়ে আসে হাসি।
