اگر تم میرا گھونگھٹ اٹھاؤ

If you lift my veil, tell me first—

what will you do with what you see?

اگر تم میرا گھونگھٹ اٹھاؤ، تو پہلے یہ بتانا—

جو دکھے گا، اس کا کیا کرو گے؟

Will you make me cry once again,

or will you give my silence a home?

پھر سے رُلاؤ گے مجھے،

یا میری خاموشی کو اپنا گھر بنا دو گے؟

This veil is not only cloth and thread,

it is stitched with nights I survived.

یہ گھونگھٹ صرف کپڑا نہیں،

اس میں وہ راتیں سِلی ہیں جو میں نے جھیل کر گزاری ہیں۔

Do not lift it with restless hands

that want to know but cannot stay.

اسے بے چین ہاتھوں سے مت اٹھانا
